Features

The merits of a system engineered from the ground up on the latest development platform are evident and bring benefits in the form of seamless new routes to market such as the Internet supporting both B2C and B2B facilities and with a lower cost of ownership than traditional legacy based systems. Integration with a multitude of industry standard applications brings significant additional functionality at very low cost.

The system has a number of key features that are particularly relevant in today’s market.

Full Cycle EDI
All inbound and outbound data takes the form of XML.  EDI works by converting EDI messages to and from XML and then using them within Landscape.NET environment. EDI messages are stored at policy level allowing the user to both see and access all EDI messages related to the policy from the policy screen. In addition EDI is linked to the Landscape.NET workflow system automating the process of handling rejections and exceptions by directing the failed message, with a breakdown of the cause, to the correctly qualified user.

MID Integration
The system has an integrated MID component that automates the data returns required by the MID for both Fleet and Private Car (MID1 and MID2). A full MID transaction history is stored with each policy allowing the user to see what MID communciation has taken place for that policy from the policy screen.

Euro Compliance
A detailed study has been completed to assess the likely systems impact of the UK joining the Euro and provisions made within the system to allow for a smooth transition to the new currency.
The system supports multiple currencies and also has the ability to dual price on both screen and printed output such as statements.

Transaction Wrapping
Each transaction that takes place within the system is wrapped. A transaction such as a New business entry will involve a number of writes to different tables such as the Vehicles table, Drivers table, Accounts tables etc. If for any reason a transaction fails to complete in its entirety (i.e. a power cut) the transaction will be rolled back preserving data integrity throughout the system.

Policy Roll Back / Roll Forward
A policy can be rolled back to a previous state by simply selecting the appropriate history entry. All relevant accounting entries are made automatically. In addition the system supports automatic Roll Forward of any or all transactions that have previously been rolled back.

strong>Integrated OLAP Component
Data is exported from the main SQL database to an SQL server based Data Warehouse, for performance reasons this is usually on another server. The Data Warehouse can then be interrogated by a number of OLAP tools and integrated with tools such as Proclarity and Microsoft MapPoint.

Postcode Lookup
Automatic postcode lookup and associated services, such as distance calculation between two points, is provided by either QAS Address Finder, or the Post Office PAF data both of which are integrated into the Landscape environment. The customer is free to choose either option.

On-Line Business
On-Line placement of business, either direct by the consumer or by the Broker with facilities available for Policy detail lookup, Mid Term adjustments, Renewals and Reconciliation of Broker accounts.
