Mark Bates, CEO

Mark Bates

Mark graduated in 1984 with an honours degree in System Analysis.

After a year working for Charles Schwab & Co in San Francisco he returned to the UK and joined Bank of America as a technical consultant, responsible for defining hardware and software standards for the European division. While at Bank of America he was responsible for the development of several dealing systems and the first Europe-wide networked document image processing system.

Mark left Bank of America in 1991 and founded RDT Ltd. His aim was to develop leading edge systems for the insurance industry which would give customers a competitive advantage through the use of innovative software. RDT has since developed integrated insurance systems for the personal lines and commercial markets on the .NET platform.

In 1995, due to the rapid growth and potential of the internet, RDT expanded its services to include internet development, designing software to allow interactive quotations and real time placement of insurance business via the net.

Mark’s passion for technology has always been a significant motivating factor in his career. This passion, coupled with a strong commitment to the insurance industry, continually compels him to seek new ways to innovate. This pioneering attitude is reflected in the constant evolution of RDT’s solutions. RDT is committed to the Microsoft platform and Mark has sat on a number of Microsoft Advisory Boards.

Steve Knight, Client Services Director

Director Steve Knight leads RDT’s strategic partnerships with clients, ensuring product and service development is continually aligned with their business needs.

Steve is well placed to understand clients’ strategic needs, providing proactive advice and relevant support service management. His career spans 40 years in the insurance market, during which time he ran software houses and provided consultancy to many companies, helping them to select the right technology solutions to meet their business needs.  Best known for founding and managing Wasp Consulting for 18 years, Steve was responsible for the ‘Yellow Book’, the renowned insurance package review which became the industry bible.

 

 

Philip Whitehead, Finance Director

Philip Whitehead

Philip Whitehead heads up finance, legal and corporate governance for RDT. Philip brings invaluable experience in directing IT departments, particularly through significant change programmes and infrastructure projects.

Previous roles as a Finance Director have included strategic planning, investment appraisal, financial control and IT in hospitality, leisure, and online gaming, with big brands such as Bass (including Holiday Inn Worldwide and Bass Taverns), The Tote (government owned until July 2011), Victor Chandler International and Coral PLC.
